Uber and Zipline are partnering to bring Zipline drone delivery to UberEats orders, according to Heise. The tie-up points to Uber’s push to expand beyond conventional couriers and test aerial delivery as part of its food-ordering business.
The headline ambition is large: by the end of 2029, Uber wants to complete one million deliveries per day by drone. That target suggests the company sees drone logistics not as a small pilot, but as a delivery channel it hopes to scale aggressively over the next several years.
The rollout is expected to begin quickly. Heise reports that the first deployments are supposed to take place later this year, giving the partnership a near-term starting point even as its biggest goals remain several years out.
