Signal has removed a long-standing limitation in how its accounts work: users can now securely link multiple phones to a single account. The update means an additional Android phone or iPhone can be attached to the same phone number, extending a capability that previously stopped at desktops and tablets.
Until now, Signal's linked-devices feature supported PCs and iPads but treated one phone as the sole mobile anchor for an account. With the change, users who split their digital lives between devices — a work handset and a personal one, for example — can keep a single verified identity while moving between hardware.
Once a device is linked, users can check and respond to new messages across all of their linked devices, keeping conversations in sync regardless of which screen they pick up. The move closes an obvious gap for multi-device users without stepping away from Signal's end-to-end encryption model.
