OpenAI has launched a safer version of ChatGPT built specifically for teenagers, formalizing its relationship with a group that has been using the standard chatbot for years. The product, called ChatGPT for Teens, layers guardrails directly into the experience.
The teen-focused release adds age-appropriate safety measures and parental controls, giving guardians oversight of how younger users interact with the tool.
It also includes learning tools designed to steer teens away from harmful content and away from using AI to cheat on their homework, with the launch arriving years after teens began using the product.
